Tomato Purée Tube Decorations

These decorations are a sweet way to elevate your home during the Christmas period or for any festive occasion throughout the year! Easy to make and an excellent way of using up recycled materials that you may have at home. Simply save up your empty tomato purée tubes and add a personal touch to your holiday decor.

You will need:

• A tomato purée tube (washed out)
• A piece of cloth or newspaper to lean on
• Scissors
• A pencil (or something similar) to emboss with
Free template download (optional)

Wash out a tube of tomato purée and cut it into a rectangle shape, removing the top and bottom. Using the back of a spoon, remove the creases from the metal so that it is smooth.

Draw a design for your decoration on a piece of paper and cut it out - this will be used as a template. Alternatively, download my free template here to use as a guide.

Place the template over the top of your piece of metal with the outside of the tomato purée tube facing up. Use a pencil to trace over your design, leaving an indent on the metal underneath. Lean on a piece of cloth to get the best embossed outcome.

Once you are happy with your design, cut out the final shape to reveal your decoration. Use a nail file or sandpaper to get rid of any unwanted sharp edges.

Carefully make a hole at the top of the decoration and thread a piece of string or ribbon through the hole.

Your decorations are ready to hang up! You could also use these to elevate gift wrap, or make multiple designs to create a garland.
